Welcome to the new BomaniJones.com. If I were wired differently, I’d put an exclamation point, but that doesn’t sound sexy.
Anyway, I went out and hired some consultants who told me I needed a better “Web presence.” I think they were saying “your site stinks.” Either way, I figured they were right and not simply trying to separate me from my money, so I guess it was just time for a grownup site. And well, here that is.
The biggest thing we wanted to do was make it easier to keep up with what I’ve got going. Back in the day, I could just throw up a post, and that was good enough. Now, there are so many moving parts and different things to mention that I needed a little more. Plus, the look got old.
So check out the menu bar on the site. You’ll be able to find out what appearances I’ll be doing in the near future. It will be easier than ever to find out how to listen to The MorningJones. We’ve also installed plenty of widgets to make it easier to check out my social media platforms, including a few Facebook Fan Page and Quora feed to go along with my Twitter page.
My company, Old Soul Productions, has also started a YouTube channel, and we hope to have new content there this summer. And in a couple of weeks, we’ll have new merchandise available at the store to go with the first run of #BEATEMDOWN t-shirts.
You’ll also notice, under “contact,” that you can not only subscribe to the site’s newsletter, but also let me know if you’re interested in writing for BomaniJones.com. Now let me be the first to say: the thought of letting anyone else write on my blog is…uncomfortable. That said, we’re going to be looking for new content and would love the help. We’ll see when I get comfy enough to actually let that happen, I’ll let you know.
So here we are. For seven years, this site has been my personal outpost. My hope is to maintain that quality, but I guess part of getting a new site is to make it less personal. Not in a bad way, but at least to make it seem more like it belongs to someone who does this for a living.
But I’m in this for fun as much as anything else, and the blog will remain fun. If not, then something’s happened to me that I’m not happy with.
So enjoy the site. There’s more to come.
