This entire situation is fishy in a number of ways (some of which I spelled out in a previous post).
I don't think it's out of the question that these guys assaulted the strippers. But I also don't think it's out of the question that the strippers made up the assault because they were angry about the racial/sexual insults (I don't doubt for a second that there were insults).
Time will tell.
Two things: How long is it going to be before we hear from the one black man who was in the room? How would this have played if the school involved was North Carolina Central?
I understand your trepidation, Bo; you and the others may be right in that this may turn out to be an elaborate hoax. I would just like to point out that the time differences are not really all that alarming. The cops arriving at the scene at 12:55 only suggests that the victim had already left the premises by then (and once she leaves, the party's over, know what I mean?). It is not unreasonable to imagine that she wandered aimlessly for about 20 minutes before being picked up by a friend and driving to Kroger's where a 2nd 911 call was made at 1:22. After all, if one has spent 20 minutes walking, and disoriented to boot, then one could hardly expect to get much further than a mile or so. I'm not saying the allegations are true, but I'm not ready to go "Tawana Brawley" on the sister, either. Let's not silence these Black women and let's not allow media posturing to spoil our view. In a country with a history as racist as ours, it is best for Black people to err on the side of our brothers and sisters. It may turn out to be that they're lying, but let's not assume that they are (if they're lying, it will not be proven by "evidence" as flimsy as that presented in this article - the other so-called "discrepancies" are hardly worth mentioning. Indeed, I've seen it all before - God ain't the only cat who works in mysterious ways, you know. To God we can add the law enforcement authorities, crime scene investigators, undscrupulous lawyers, a complicit - I mean "objective" media, wealthy white folk from "good" families, etc......
I have read numerous account of this whole thing, and I thought that this sounded a little off, but it does match with what the neighbor said, which was that the party ended very shortly after the women left. We haven't heard exactly when the women left. It would be normal to have some lag time between leaving the party and getting to Kroger's.
As for that first caller, we need to hear from this woman at some point. (I am convinced that she is white based on her voice, her general dreaction to the racial slur, and her use of the term "my blackgirlfriend." I suppose it is possible that the other women called, but we'll see.)
Ther really isn't enough evidence in this article to suggest guilt or innocnece at all. All it really does is provide some sort of a foundation upon which to begin building a defense.
To me, the really interesting part was a comment the DA made that surfaced in various articles where he said that DNA evidence might not be what determines who he presses charges against and for which crimes. Does that mean that others will be charged as accomplices/accessories for not stopping something, or does it mean that the DNA evidence may be too weak to base charges on?
Has anybody else from the NC are listened to the full aduio tape about the racial slur? I don't knw much about NC accents, but I think the woman also sounds really White. Granted I know you can't tell somebody's race by their voice, but has anybody heard it?
