One cool thing about Directv is catching the occasional HD concert ’round lunch time.  Good for digestion or something.
Today, R.E.M. has one.  The whole time, I was trying to figure out what they’d open with.  Normally, an act likes to hit you with energy to start and then roll from there.  It’s a wise strategy, obviously.  Of course, R.E.M. has about five songs that’ll make you want to smile.  “Shiny Happy People,” which makes me cringe, is clearly not one of them for me, regardless of how “happy” it sounds.
I just thought, “I mean, it’s not like you can start a concert with ‘Everybody Hurts.'”
Actually, you can.  And they did.  Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ll call my loved ones and make sure they’re okay.  Simply picking up the phone will answer my question.
