Oh, somehow I didn’t think of this. After receiving an e-mail from Mark Anthony Neal with his ten best columns of the year, it dawned on me that it wouldn’t be the worst idea to do the same. Especially for those who hadn’t peeped my work until recently, here’s a quick fast list of my favorite pieces of 2004.

Masterpiece: Doggystyle – a look at the record Snoop Doggy Dogg and the institution he’s become.
Song of the Day: Welcome to the Terrordome – my favorite PE track. Part of Africana’s Black Music Month series.
For Myself and Others – just in case you wanna know what this column’s really about.
Is Hip Hop Politics Possible? – a look at the Hip Hop Summit Action Network and its brethren.
Saving Grace – a look at the role sports played in getting Marcus Dixon out of jail.
Iverson the Icon – why Allen Iverson is hip hop personified in sports, and why he’s a lot more like most folks than they’d care to admit.
The Reality of Mike Tyson – why it’s so sad to see the former Iron Mike as he currently exists.
Doing Time – why Rashad McCants thinks he’s in jail.
That White T Song – hmmmph.
Just Don’t Do It – Why I thought–and still think–Rudy T should not have taken the job coaching the Lakers.
On to ’05!
