  Hey Bomani, Merry Xmas man. We must talk when you get back to the Hill. Best Xmas records I've ever heard (and they were recorded before your lifetime!) are Charles Brown's Xmas blues LP and Kenny Burrell's Xmas album. Fabulous stuff. And if I have to privilege any single Xmas song it would have to the versions of "White Christmas" first by the Raven and then by the Drifters. Let Bing hang in the wind.

  Merry Christmas, Hoodrat! Try the Brian Setzer Boogie Woogie Christmas Album. Although nothing beats Sting on the Truly 80's inspired Very Special Christmas album. It may not be hip on the black radio stations but it's all the rage at the Moore Home. Spider Man is also all the rage as Chap sleeps with visions of shooting webs and his new guitar dancing in his head. Oh yeah, and it snowed in Houston tonight! What more could a 3 year old ask for? Wish you were here to witness the magic...

  I have to emphathize on the article. There ain't nothing like a seven-hour drive where you keep track of the time by how many times 'Let It Snow' by Boyz to Men and some other DC misstep comes on the radio. :) That said, although it's not a traditional Christmas album, I do think Whitney Houston did stop smoking long enough to turn out a great gospel/christmasy album when she did the Preacher's Wife. Here's to hoping Santa will bring me a working CD player and some great new music for the new year!
